[edit] Summary

When the school holds a concert in the Gym, William accidentally drops a mixing board for the DJ contest. Odd offers to fix it, and tries to get Jeremie to help. Jeremie is busy, so Aelita offers her help. She easily fixes the device, and finds that she is quite talented in using it. The school is holding its finals, as well, and Odd finds that he is not prepared in the least.

[edit] Recap

The episode begins with Odd and Ulrich discussing a physics problem. Ulrich can't seem to get a handle on a specific equation. Odd says he's got it covered, which Ulrich immediately assumes to be a cheat sheet and thus doesn't want a part of it. Sissi comes by and announces that she has great news. Odd thinks it's about some band that broke up, but Sissi gives a quick explanation about that and moves on to the real news. It turns out that her father will let them use the Gymnasium for a Techno Party.

In the Gym, Jim is telling everyone where to set up the equipment. William drops a DJ Mixing Board he was carrying in. Odd sees the busted equipment and offers to have Jeremie look at it.

In Jeremie's room, Jeremie doesn't want to repair the board, saying he's too busy working on the antivirus program. Aelita offers to help, not having anything better to do at the moment.

Back in the Gym, Aelita fixes the DJ Mixing Board in no time flat. Some curious testing of the device reveals that she has a natural talent for Disc Jockeying. An impressed William asks her to be at the Techno Party for the DJ Contest. She gladly accepts.

In the Classroom Building, everyone is on their way to the Final Exam. Odd implies that he has the cheat sheet in his bag, but it's rendered useless when Jim is seen taking everyone's bags and leaving them with just one pen. During the four hours in which the test takes place, Odd uses his exam paper to make origami. Sissi can also be seen doodling on her exam sheet. At the end of the exam, Jim picks up all the papers, including Odd's origami bird. On his way to deliver the tests, he reherses some lines he wants to say to Mrs. Hertz. His thoughts are interrupted by one of XANA's ghosts. He gets possessed.

On Lyoko, a Megatank is seen rolling around in a canyon.

In Jeremie's room, Aelita is arguing with Jeremie. He wonders why she'd want to waste her time with being a DJ when they could be working on the antivirus. She says that he's stubborn as a fool and storms out of the room. Jeremie yells out the correct version of the expression (stubborn as a mule) after she's gone.

Outside the Gym, the student body is waiting to get into the party. Odd jokes around to Ulrich and Yumi that he's going to get held back. Yumi doesn't think it's that serious, but still scolds him on his lack of studying. Ulrich wonders where Aelita and Jeremie are. Odd tells him that Aelita was let into the Gym some time ago and that Jeremie is still sulking.

Back in the Dormitory Building, Jeremie is seen walking through the halls. As he passes by Sissi's room, he notices her father telling her she can't go to the party for drawing the picture on the exam. Jeremie smiles at this and heads for his room. A check of the Super Scanner reveals an activated Tower, but before he can warn the others, he's attacked by XANA-Jim.

At the techno party, Christophe M'Bala is singing a solo while Aelita is interviewed by Milly and Tamiya about her particular mixing style. William steps in and says that her style is unique. Aelita's heads up on stage and begins Disc Jockeying. In no time, the assembled students are pumping their fists in the air and cheering her on. Ulrich and Yumi move off to dance together while Odd hangs back, content to watch Mohammed Kantaoui, Xavier Gosselin and Matthieu Ducrocq root for Aelita enthusiastically. William comes by to compliment Odd on his "cousin's" talent.

All this time, Jeremie is struggling to get free after being bound and gagged by XANA-Jim. He manages to get the tape off of his mouth and calls Kiwi. It takes Jeremie a while, but he eventually gets Kiwi to go get Odd for him.

At the party, Sissi has arrived. When asked by Hervé and Nicolas if she snuck out, Sissi drops a sarcastic comment and then responds in the affirmative. She then moves off to get between Ulrich and Yumi. Meanwhile, William is showing Odd his dance moves. William isn't good at it, which Odd points out in the most tactful way possible. It's at this point that Kiwi shows up. While following Kiwi, he runs into Yumi. This gives both her and Ulrich an excuse to get away from the party and, by extension, Sissi. XANA-Jim sneaks past them while they take off after Kiwi.

In Jeremie's room, they untie Jeremie and get the details of the attack. They all head back to the Gym to pick up Aelita. XANA-Jim is one step ahead of them, though. He sends a surge through the electrical system and knocks Aelita unconscious. While the students on the dance floor gasp, XANA-Jim bounds up the steps and kneels besides Aelita. While the stage crew consisting of Paul Gaillard and Christophe M'Bala looks on with concern, XANA-Jim cradles Aelita and claims to be heading to the Infirmary. He heads off to the Factory, instead. The gang shows up to the party shortly after, only to find Aelita gone. They strike out for the Factory after XANA-Jim.

At the Factory, XANA-Jim drops Aelita in one of the Scanners and sends her to Lyoko.

Aelita virtualizes next to the Megatank.

The gang arrives at the Factory at this point. The elevator comes back up with XANA-Jim inside. Jeremie and Yumi head for the Lab while Odd and Ulrich remain in the Cathedral Hall to deal with XANA-Jim. Throwing in the monkeywrench, XANA-Jim makes a copy of himself and moves to attack Odd and Ulrich. Odd's attempt to kick XANA-Jim fails as he just passes right through him. A punch from the other XANA-Jim sends Ulrich flying. As XANA-Jim walks off, Odd revives Ulrich and gives him a pipe to hit Jim with. With Odd providing a distraction, Ulrich succeeds in braining his adversary and knocking XANA-Jim out. They take the elevator to the Lab as XANA-Jim comes to.

Back on Lyoko, Aelita tries to escape the canyon. The Megatank stops her by destroying the winding path up to the surface. Odd, Ulrich and Yumi are sent to Lyoko. Jeremie brings up their Vehicles as three Hornets catch them. Odd satys behind to battle them while Ulrich and Yumi head off to rescue Aelita. Using the rocks for cover, Odd is able to take out one of the Hornets. The others, however, get him down to ten life points. They then take off after Ulrich and Yumi. Odd gets on his Overboard and pursues them. The Hornets eventually catch up to Ulrich and Yumi. They manage to knock Ulrich off his Overbike, leaving Yumi to rescue Aelita alone. Odd shows up, too, and tries to scare the Hornets off. They take out his Overboard. He hitches a ride with Ulrich and they lead the Hornets on a chase.

In the canyon, the Scyphozoa shows up at about the same time as Yumi. After a short fight with the Megatank, both it and Yumi are devirtualized, leaving the Scyphozoa alone with Aelita. As it begins to copy her memory with its tentacles, Jeremie tells Odd and Ulrich to hurry up.

XANA-Jim walks through the wall and pushes Jeremie away from the console. XANA-Jim materializes Odd back from Lyoko.

On Lyoko, Ulrich arrives to help Aelita. After dispatching the two leftover Hornets, he separates Aelita from the Scyphozoa with some katana hack-and-slash.

Back in the Lab, Yumi arrives and distracts XANA-Jim while Jeremie has Aelita head for the Tower.

Aelita enters the Code: LYOKO just before XANA-Jim can cause any harm to Jeremie or Yumi.

When he comes to, Jim's questions about where he is are left unanswered as Jeremie activates the return trip mechanism.

Back at the school, Aelita and Jeremie agree to help Odd with his physics and chemistry. Sissi shows up with the same good news. Odd already knows, of course, and even tells her how he knows. Sissi just thinks he's crazy. He even tries to get her to study with them. She refuses thinking the test is easy. Aelita asks Jeremie if he's going to go to the Techno Party to watch her play. He says he wouldn't miss it.

[edit] Memorable Quotes

Ulrich: Uh, I forgot… I have something important to do.
Sissi: What?
Ulrich: I have to uh, polish my flip-flops. Bye!
Odd: Don’t get all worked up about that exam. I’ve got a little something in mind.
Ulrich: This little something, does it start with cheat and end in sheet, by any chance?
Odd: Wow! You just read my mind!
Jim: (after Tower is deactivated) Huh? What am I doing here?
Jeremie: You’ll never know, Jim.
(Jeremie launches a return to the past)
(Sissi appears at the Techno Party)
Sissi: Tada!
Nicolas: You snuck out?
Sissi: Well, no. My father said you're going to repeat the year, but it's no big deal, sweetie. It doesn't mean you can't have a good time.
Nicolas: Is that what he said?
Sissi: Oh, you're such an idiot! Of course I snuck out. What do you think?
(Jeremie is tied to the chair)
Jeremie: Kiwi! (a ball rolls into his room) No, boy, we don't have time to play! (Kiwi comes in) Kiwi! Get Odd! Get...Odd!
(Kiwi barks and runs out)
Jeremie: With my luck, he'll come back with the Principal!
Aelita: You're stubborn as a fool!
Jeremie: It's stubborn as a mule!
(Odd's following Kiwi)
Yumi: Odd, where are you going?
Odd: (points after Kiwi) Ask him.
(At the Techno Party, William isn't dancing)
Odd: What's up? Not dancing?
William: Nah...it's not my thing.
Odd: Ah, you've gotta be kidding me. C'mon! Lemme see how you move!
(William starts dancing, rather badly)
Odd: Oh. You're right. It's not your thing.

[edit] Trivia

[edit] Culture Notes

  • The party hosted by the school is dominated by Techno music. Techno is a style of music that has taken Western Europe by storm.

[edit] Character Notes
