Besides its various visual or plot-related revolutionary additions to the role-playing game genre, Final Fantasy IV also featured a rich score by Nobuo Uematsu. While not quite equalling the character theme-based score he would later complete for Final Fantasy VI, Oematsu pushed the medium past its status quo to complete a game whose sound would stay with its fans for years to come.
