Filthy Lies! is a webcomic written and drawn by Brandon Sonderegger under the alias "Enigma". It is hosted on Keenspot, which also carries Sonderegger's first webcomic Silly Cone V as well as his single panel comic Inside the Box. Filthy Lies! follows the exploits of a chunk of reanimated steak named Beefsteak, Damian the self-proclaimed world's worst Jew (who is an atheist), and Joel, a poor, gay, Christian Republican. Starting off as a gag-a-day comic, the strip has developed longer storylines over time. Much of the humor in the strip comes from its irreverent and, sometimes, hostile take on religious and political subjects. The title comes from a quote by Joel in the first comic: "That's a lie! A filthy lie! I am not gay!"

Currently the webcomic is being made into a book which follows all the strips so far.

[edit] Characters

  • Joel: a gay conservative Christian Republican, he hopes to become a corporate lawyer. He denies everything about his sins, namely his homosexuality.
  • Damian: Joel's roommate, Damian is a contradicting Jewish liberal. He's currently majoring in mad science at the local community college. Constantly attacking religion, he's a major thorn in the side for Joel. He has been known to poison the homeless and collected Irish midgets in the basement and called them leprechauns. He's considered impolite, rude, selfish, and an all-around a-hole. The reason he and Joel are roommates is because they are the only two who can stand being around each other 24/7.
  • Mary: Joel's sister. Originally a prim neo-Christian, she was seduced by Damian, and subsequently went Goth.
  • Beefsteak: A chunk of beefsteak with a childish personality, reanimated by Damian. He goes completely nuts when fed sugar and alcohol.
