Filarmonica Alpina of Castiglione di Garfagnana is one of the compages with longer tradition of the Garfagnana.
Its foundation, indeed, go up at 1858 with name of "Fanfara popolare" for initiative of a group of passionated with purpose to make music in several circumstances: in holidays or in religious and civil manifestations.
After, in 1874, it became a communal band.
It was inactive throughout First World War, at the end, it restarted again the activity without interruptions.
Nowadays, Filarmonica Alpina represents one of more lives traditions in Castiglione di Garfagnana.
It is always present in every occasion or important moment of community.
Today the musical group is composed by seventy elements, it is directed by Mr. Silvano Marcalli and its Chairman is Mr. Vittorio Pieroni.
