There you have it. I'm primarily a religious military historian (e.g. military conflicts influenced largely by religion) although I'll study modern warfare if I feel like it. Otherwise I tend to stay in the time period of 1096 (start of the 1st Crusade) to the end of the Napoleonic Wars. I don't like everything in between but it's too hard to list every war that I've studied.

Because of my philosophical beliefs, I'm one of the few remaining historians who believes in historial heroes. While accepting the impact that social, economic, geographic, etc. factors have on history, I believe its up to the Individual to capitalize on these factors. Individuals are the driving force behind history, in my not so humble opinion. The greatest movements in history (from the Industrial Revolution to the shifting of economic power from the Italian states to Iberia to England, etc.) were all driven by individuals. This probably puts me in the minority on this website (and in the field of History) but I don't care.

My greatest passion in the world is motorcycles. When I'm not riding, working, or drooling over my bike, I'm usually studying them. When I'm not doing one of those, I'm studying history. When I feel like relaxing, it's usually in the form of many bottles of Guinness :)
