Figgs & Phantoms

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Figgs & Phantoms is a 1974 young adult novel written by Ellen Raskin. It won the Newbery Honor award. It is not as well known as Raskin's other novel, The Westing Game, most likely because it tackled some difficult subjects such as the afterlife and religion. However, many critics (and even Raskin herself) agree that this was her best novel. The main character is Mona Lisa Fig Newton, who obviosly hates her name.
