Feteiras

Feteiras is a parish in the southwestern portion of the city of Ponta Delgada in the Azores. The population in 2001 is 1,709, its density is 72.9/km² and the area is 23.45 km². It is located in the western part of the island of São Miguel and is connected by roads linking Mosteiros and Ribeira Grande. The mountains which are covered with lovely trees are to the north while the Atlantic Ocean lies to the south. The main industry are agriculture. Farmlands dominate within the coastline and while the mountainous areas cover the rest of Feteiras. Feteiras is accessed with a bus transport to Ponta Delgada. The population in the 1800s had about 860 people and 342 houses. The population grew steadily from around 1,000 in the 1900s to 1,709 today.
