Festus Onigbinde
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Festus Onigbinde (born 1942 in Modakeke) is a Nigerian football manager.
He coached Nigeria national team at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Onigbinde led Nigeria to the worst performance in the World Cup history. For once in a World Cup Nigeria did not win a single match and was knocked out of the tournament in the first round. Thereafter he was hired by local clubside 3SC.[citation needed] The side was seeking to relive its glory days of the 70's. Onigbinde managed, contrary to all expectations to coach the team to relegation in one season. He was later sacked by the management of the club for his efforts. He has also managed Trinidad and Tobago.[citation needed] Under him the country achieved nothing. Since his exit some years ago the tiny Carribean nation has managed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.
