Festival Bay Mall
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Festival Bay Mall is the newest mall in Orlando, Florida, having opened in 2002. Formerly one of the Belz Factory Outlets, it is now managed by General Growth Properties. It is convenient to International Drive and Interstate 4.
The anchor stores are a non-traditional mix, comprising Ron Jon Surf Shop, Steve & Barry's, Bass Pro Shops, Vans Skatepark, National Book Warehouse and Shepler's Western Wear. A Ron Jon surf park is also under construction, and is scheduled to open in 2007. Tenants at the mall range from traditional mall tenants as Pacific Sunwear, it also includes several outlet stores. It also features several restaurants, including Subway, Fuddruckers, Cold Stone Creamery, A&W/Long John Silvers, and Villa Pizza.
Several traits make the Festival Bay Mall unique. Several small man-made lakes dot the mall property, and the center itself features an unusual wheel-and-spokes layout. Also, many key tenants focus on entertainment - from the 20-screen Cinemark complex to glow-in-the-dark miniature golf; from Ron Jon Surf Shop to Vans Skatepark, both mentioned above. General Growth Properties bills the mall as "Orlando's most unique shopping destination".
While Festival Bay Mall was reportedly quite empty in the beginning (especially according to deadmalls.com), it has picked up speed and is starting to fill up with tenants. Kasper Outlet, Nine West Outlet, Jones New York Outlet, United World Soccer, XLR8, Bergamo's Italian Buffet, and Cricketers Arms English Pub are among the tenants new in 2006.
