Ferme de L'avellan

The Farm is overhung by the Castle whose occupation goes up at the time Gallo-Roman (the archaeological indices attest it). Remained to Simiane until XVIIIème, the Castle is bequeathed in 1716 per Isabelle SIMIANE to her cousin Gaspard François of SADE, Seigneur of Saumane and Mazan, also grandfather of the divine Marquis, Louis-Aldonse DONATIEN. In 1766, SADE undertakes the restoration and the embellishment of the building. Plundered and destroyed with the Revolution, this last is sold to the Marquis of ROVERE, then with the biddings. In 1806, it is repurchased by the caretaker who undertakes to demolish it to resell materials. It is only in 1952 that André BOUER, professor of the colleges, becomes owner and devotes his life about it to his restoration. Since his death, the new owner Pierre CARDIN undertook a great work of consolidation and security of the site and gives again life to him by creating each year a Festival of music and theatre in the court of the Castle and its contiguous careers.
