[edit] Information

No official specifications can be found on the Super Aircraft type referred to, singularly and collectively, as "Fenrir". The only information is that which is obtained during combat. The Fenrir was developed with the same Digital Optical Stealth (DOS) Technology utilized by the Gleipnir. Along with the DOS the fighter's overall design was extremely advanced for it's time. The Fenrir's flight surfaces are extremely flat; it has no vertical control surfaces. The two main engines have 1-D Thrust Vectoring Technology (TVC), and the third, central engine is capable of providing vertical thrust and VTOL to keep the aircraft aloft at low speeds. The Fenrir may be equipped with Microwave Technolgy, which, working in tandem with a ground-based device, creates a slow-moving anomaly (seen as a sparking sphere of energy) that can overheat an aircraft's fuel and cause it to explode. The version of Fenrir that may be flown by the player lacks the DOS or microwave weapon, but may be armed with a pair of Light Shock Wave Missiles (LSWM), essentially smaller versions of the Shock Wave Ballistic Missiles (SWBM) mounted on the Gleipnir.

[edit] History

The Fenrir, under development ever since the start of the Leasath-Aurelia War, was the entire reason Leasath invaded Aurelia. Its funding was massive, and Leasath invaded Aurelia in order to gain the funds to finance the project through arms sales. A highly advanced fighter, the Fenrir employed most of the technologies from the Gleipnir, mainly its Optical Stealth and ability to launch SWBMs. When Griswall was liberated by Gryphus One and Aurelian forces, Leasath commander Diego Gaspar Navarro fled to the Sentry Islands, a set of islands in Leasath territory and the location of Archelon Fortress. The fortress was the location of the production facility of Fenrir. By this time, Fenrir was complete, but had yet to be exported. Only about 15 working models were produced by that time. Disturbed by the mysterious loss of a reconnaissance flight, Aurelian forces assaulted the area. Depending on the players actions, the Fenrir may have been fitted with an HPM (High Purpose Microwave), a weapon resembling a purple orb which tracked the target and ignited its fuel tank. Its weakness was that it couldn't ignite the fuel of aircraft traveling over 700 miles per hour. In an alternate scenario (in which the HPM is not fitted), the Leasath elite Alect Squadron reaches Archelon Fortress and are given control of four Fenrir aircraft. Their skill, combined with the Fenrir's advanced capabilities, are a force to be reckoned with. Despite their capabilities, the squadron is unable to defeat Gryphus One and is destroyed along with Archelon Fortress. All working Fenrir models are destroyed with the Fortress, except for one in the possession of the Aurelian military.
