Fender Telecaster Thinline

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fender Telecaster Thinline is an electric guitar made by the Fender company. It is a Telecaster with body cavities.

The semi-hollow-body design was originally an attempt to reduce the weight of the solid-body Telecaster guitar; the f-hole and reshaped pickguard being the most apparent visual clue to its construction.

There are now two versions of the Telecaster Thinline. The '69 version has two standard Telecaster pickups, while the '72 version has two humbuckers. Notable artists who use these guitars include Jon Buckland of Coldplay, Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie, and Joel Quartermain of Eskimo Joe.
