Any reason why you removed RTA types II and IV as causes for metabolic acidosis? JFW | T@lk 21:31, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry, I meant to explain myself in the discussion page, but got kicked off by my ISP..The reason I did so was not to remove RTA as a cause of a normal anion gap acidosis, just to clarify that all types cause it, not just types 2 and 4.Felix-felix 13:19, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nephrologist

Are you a nephrologist then? JFW | T@lk 12:19, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Afraid so..Felix-felix 13:37, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Good. The dialysis article could do with some work! If you want a laugh, look at the exchange on Talk:Renal failure. JFW | T@lk 13:41, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

I do not agree with your remarks regarding a better removal of fosfate during hemofiltration and hemodiafiltrationKarpov33

In the Netherlands there at the moment many centres using hemodiafiltration in their chronic patient group. Some of them are participating in the CONTRAST study. At the moment i'm to busy with my own work (writing a medical plan for our dialysis department) to submit new articles. However I'll be writing soon something about hemofiltration and other nephrological topics. --Karpov33 18:42, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Liver dialysis

I added a little section on survival to the liver dialysis article. We sparred over the name a while back and I remember you lamenting that liver dialysis just doesn't compare with dialysis of the renal variety. Well, I've hopefully fixed that possible misperception. I hope Nice is doing you well. Nephron  T|C 23:34, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Nephrology, Wikipedia Dialysis Unit, CRF Prognosis

I started a template for nephrology-- modeled on the one for GI. Question I have for you is... can the various kidney cancers and kidney disorders all be tied to a specific location? I've struggled a bit with that... so the template deviates from the scheme used for the GI template. You have any suggestions for the template? Any case, you're invited to join the Nephrology project (WP:Nephro). Also, I finally added a little section about prognosis in the chronic renal failure article. Look forward to your edits. :) Nephron  T|C 07:10, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I realize

I realize we've never formally met. I dabble with bile ducts and livers in Toronto. Posted a bit of a response on Talk:Hepatorenal syndrome regarding prognosis. Look forward to working with you on WP:NEPHRO. Cheers -- Samir धर्म 09:46, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I was wondering if you could take a look at Barrio Adentro

I know it might not be your area of expertise but a quick look is mostly what I ask, if you can spot any flawed medical terminology that I crudely translated it would be greatly appreciated.Flanker 03:05, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks I did better than what I expected ;).Flanker 17:19, 12 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] hemodialysis, home hemodialysis and dialysis adequacy

I'm not thrilled by your changes in hemodialysis... but I guess I can understand 'em --numbers scare a lot of people and mine weren't referenced. I made a stub for dialysis adequacy and stuck the numbers in there.

As for home hemodialysis--I have the impression you're decidely cool to it, despite a large body of evidence that suggests it has considerable benefit-- you erased the bit mentioning the benefits in the hemodialysis article. Do you have a reference for the point about transplant rejects in the home hemodialysis article? I think that may have been true in the past-- but no longer holds.

Speaking from what happens in my neck of the woods, AFAIK, home hemodialysis does not preclude renal transplantation (which here has wait lists of 5+ years [1][2][3]) and is not in any way restricted to patients that are not transplant candidates. Contrary of your assertion, it was my impression that (with wait lists growing by the day) the opposite is true. I was part of project that surveyed the dialysis patients in my neck of the woods with a collection of validated health questionaires-- having done the preliminary analysis on that I data I had the impression the NHHD patients are the more healthy ESRD patients.

Here is a ref from Scandinavia that states that numerous patients dropped out 'cause of kidney transplantation. Nephron  T|C 18:20, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

We can work on an essay plan. I agree with hemodialysis being a mess. I split-out Step-by-step description of hemodialysis today... I think that is an improvement. Nephron  T|C 00:00, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
I think there is an article template for medicine article somewhere already in existence. Being the sort of person I am... I'm thinking the first step is find that and then work on modifying it. An alternative approach would be working from an article that is a good article-- like hepatorenal syndrome. Nephron  T|C 04:09, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
What do you mean by "RRT data box thingy"?
Do you mean infobox -- like in Trastuzumab or a template like Template:DSM_personality_disorders?
It would be great if you could get some pictures-- the ones on hemodialysis are quite stale. Nephron  T|C 03:03, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Healthcare in Cuba

Hi Felix-Felix, I could really do with some external input into the Healthcare in Cuba page. At present there is a grim stalemate, I wrote the large portion of the page, but I believe that another user is making tendentious edits that are effecting the credibility of the page. Healthcare in Cuba is a complicated issue, and should be well presented on wikipedia.--Zleitzen 02:04, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi felix, thanks for your message and your work on the healthcare page. I agree with your analysis about incorporating the material into the main body which I notice you have done to good effect. Due to the complex nature of the page, propagandizing by the Cuban government, the US government opposed to Cuba for 50 years, and Cuban exiles attempting to portray a picture of decay on the island to encourage political pressure, it needs to be handled delicately. And great, any photos you could provide on the British African-Carribbean community would be a great asset to that page, which I've had to compile almost alone (which is testement to the demographic and interests of the vast majority of wikipedia editors!)--Zleitzen 12:40, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi Felix, if you check the British African-Caribbean community page, it has become a featured article. Any photos that convey the topic would be gratefully received - anything with a Caribbean theme in Britain really. Thanks. --Zleitzen 18:59, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Photos

Thanks very much for the photographs. They are exactly what I had in mind. I'm going to put them through photoshop to lighten them and remove some of the December gloom and will tell you when I've done this and when they're up on the page. The Windrush square photos in particular are ideal. Cheers again! Good work.--Zleitzen 14:00, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please stop your campaign to vandalise factual edits regarding the content of Lenin's Tomb (blog)

My username is irrelevant. Any non-current edits that you refer to are irrelevant. The fact that I have edited this, or any other, or no other, wiki is irrelevant. What is relevant is that my edits, which simply point out factual content and are descriptive only are being removed by you because you don't want those facts stated in public. This is against the spirit of Wikipedia.

The comments may be full of trolls and nutcases but none of the commenters who regularly praise and celebrate the deaths of American soldiers are ever decried as such on the blog - for example search for comments by Lenin's tomb Rosa Lichtenstein's and also comments, or recent comments by Unclejimbo http://www.haloscan.com/comments/lenin/116578903863177599/#365688. These are the facts - whether you like them or not is irrelevant. Clearly you don't like any light shone upon them, but that is not the point.

In summary, I shall continue include the above facts in a spirit of good faith, and would appreciate it if I didn't have to go further in blocking and reporting your vandalism.

Thanks
