Federal Duck
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Federal Duck was a student rock band at Haverford College in which Dave Barry played in the 1960s. Formed by banjo exponent George Stavis, they produced one lone self-titled LP in 1968. Stavis departed soon after this album's release to form the Californian communal rock band Oganookie and then to record an eponymous album for Vanguard.
The name of the band was inspired by the Federal Duck Stamp Program.
Another popular story circulated by Dave Barry himself about the band name is as follows: He and his friends were sitting near a pond and saw a duck waddling towards them, his gait closely resembled the stereotypical "Fed" saunter, thus resulting in the "hilarious" name "The Federal Duck."
