This is the image of a Bengal Tiger, and also appears in many other articles. Being the work of a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service employee, it is in Public Domain. It fulfills all the criteria for being a Featured Picture.

• Oppose I saw this picture yesterday, and considered nominating it. When I saw the jpeg artifacts to the left, and the cut off tail to the right, I decided not to. Nice picture though. | AndonicO ^{Talk | Sign Here} 11:55, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

• Oppose. Quality doesn't satisfy me. Lacking in detail (this one is already heavily edited, check out the original at the DLS website) and resolution wise at the low end. It should be easy to get a better pic. Didn't they have tigers in Melbourne Fir? --Dschwen 15:25, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Well of course they did, just roaming around the streets :-). Melbourne Zoo had a Sumatran Tiger, but I didnt dare nominate it after the echidna --Fir0002 22:12, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Be careful, I wouldn't want you to get eaten ;-). I just went through your commons gallery, quite load of pics you uploaded from that zoo visit. Quite a few pretty good ones, only the tiger isn't really one of them :-(. --Dschwen 23:07, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

• Apologies, I wasn't very clear - I wasn't suggesting that Fir's was a suitable alternative candidate, just that I thought it was a better image than this one. We don't have to have a FP of everything, so it's perfectly valid to oppose a nomination even if it's the only picture we have of a particular species. --YFB ¿ 05:51, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

• Oppose I don’t think this is even the best picture of a tiger, much less best overall. The pose is awkward, tail cropped, background busy and obviously zoo, lighting and coloration are just blah.
