Wikipedia:Featured Music Project/Evaluation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Featured Music Project process
  1. Evaluate according to the criteria
  2. Edit according to suggestions and add to status page
  3. Ask for a peer review
  4. Nominate as a featured article candidate

Each article on a musician or group of musical performers should be evaluated according to the criteria on the article's FMP page (e.g. Wikipedia:Featured Music Project/Phil Collins). Each section of criteria (e.g. "Sales", "Discography") should be evaluated on a pass/fail basis. If an article passes five or more categories, it should be added to the status page.

The FMP subpage documents the article's progression like an ongoing peer review. Once an article is declared passing under all the criteria, it enters the "polishing" phase, which is sort of like PR. The same subpage is used and more specific comments about individual issues are given, if needed. Once there's a consensus to do so, the article should be nominated for FAC through the normal process by any interested individual.

There are no restrictions on evaluations. Disputes about an article's evaluation should be solved through consensus-building on the article talk page.

[edit] Procedure

  1. Evaluate the article according to the criteria at the FMP page.
  2. Record your evaluation on a subpage entitled Wikipeda:Featured Music Project/Article, using the template below.
  3. Transclude the subpage on the article's talk page
  4. Follow the directions at the FMP status page so that others can monitor the article's status; use the template provided on that page.

[edit] If you disagree with an evaluation

  1. Stay calm, and assume good faith (remember to check the diff on the subpage -- the article may have changed since it was evaluated)
  2. Begin a discussion on the article talk page, explaining why you feel the evaluation is incorrect
  3. Find out who evaluated the article (presumably whomever created the subpage), and invite that person to participate in the discussion on the article talk page
  4. Change the evaluation subpage per whatever consensus develops on the article talk page

[edit] If you would like to update an evaluation

  1. Boldly change the evaluation subpage for the article (remember you may need to update the status page if the article failed, or has now come to fail, less than four categories of criteria)
  2. If you are not sure if the article has improved sufficiently to meet one or more criteria, begin a discussion on the article talk page and invite the person who did the original evaluation to participate. If the discussion concerns interpreting the criteria, you may wish to add a point to Wikipedia talk:Featured Music Project.
  3. Change the evaluation subpage per whatever consensus develops on the article talk page

[edit] FMP subpage template
