Fayette County High School, located in Fayetteville, Georgia, is a National Blue Ribbon School and was named a Georgia School of Excellence in the year 2000.

The school teaches grades nine through twelve, enrolls approximately two thousand students, and uses a curriculum plan adopted by the Fayette County School System. Fayette County High is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Fayette County High consistently excels in fine arts, athletics and, especially, academics.

The school graduates less than five percent of its graduating classes. Fayette County test scores exceed state and national testing averages yearly. The school has sent students to prestigious colleges and universities including Agnes Scott College, Brown University, U.S. Naval Academy, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Emory University, Georgia Tech, Harvard University, Oberlin College, Smith College, Stanford University, University of Georgia, and Yale University.

The band, choral, orchestra and drama departments annually receive awards on the local, state, regional, and national levels. The choral department's Select Chorus performs in Europe and New York City, and receives superior ratings at local music festivals. The 200-member marching band is one of Georgia's largest and most successful programs, with a reputation for staging highly entertaining halftime shows that annually win state and regional championships. The band performed in the 2000 Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony and the 2005 London New Year's Day Parade. The band has accepted an invitation to perform in the 2007 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif., in January.

The Fighting Tigers send competitors to the state playoffs in baseball, basketball,soccer, volleyball, and wrestling on a yearly basis. The wrestling team has had several state champion wrestlers and a national champion wrestler in recent years.

Black and varsity gold are the school colors.

The food program exceeds national nutritional standards yearly, providing its students with affordable meals, at regular or reduced rates. Fayette County High School won the South East Regional High School Food Service "Best Overall Menu Item" award in 2003 for its Spaghetti-Lasgagna dish and, in 2004,the "Best Side-item/vegetable" award for its peanut brunswick stew. As a result of renovations completed in January 2006, the lunchroom now provides four different lunch lines with choices varying from Caesar salads to hamburger pizza.
