[edit] Welcome!

Hello, Faustus37, Welcome to Wikipedia!
I hope you like working here and want to continue. If you need help on how to name new articles, look at the Guide to layout, and for help on formatting the pages visit the Manual of Style. If you need general help, look at Help and the FAQ, and if you can't find your answer there, check the Village pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions). There's still more help at the Tutorial and the Policy Library. Also, don't forget to visit the Community Portal — and if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my New-Users' Talk Page.

Additional tips:
Here are some extra tips to help you get around Wikipedia:
  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills, try the Sandbox.
  • Click on the Edit button on a page, and look at how other editors did what they did.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too. Always sign comments on Talk pages, never sign Articles.
  • You might want to add yourself to the New User Log
  • If your first language isn't English, try Wikipedia:Contributing to articles outside your native language
  • Full details on Wikipedia style can be found in the Manual of Style.
Happy editing!

[edit] Another welcome

From another native Idahoan -- welcome to Wiki! --Boisemedia 06:41, May 29, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Perrine

If you've got an image of the Perrine that's public domain, that would make a nice addition to the article. Also, I see someone has written a umm "article" at Snake River Canyon...if you've got information worth putting into an article, that'd be grand. My experience really is limited to hiking out of the canyon at Perrine. Cheers. Tomer TALK 20:28, August 17, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Masonic Lodge entry

Please note that the spelling of Antient in the Masonic Lodge entry is correct, according to the Constitutions of the United Grand Lodge of England; a copy of which I have open on my desk at the moment. Please also note that a number of your edits of today are specifically US oriented which I would endeavour to generalise, it is worth reviewing the talk page as there is a degree of duplication which it was previously agreed was inappropriate and had been removed.ALR 20:16, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

I've had a go at the York Rite entry, it needs some refinement and I need to find my copy of Jacksons 'Beyond the Craft' to fill out some detail. In the Masonic Lodge entry I've added some terminology points, I think that the Organization and Appendant Bodies sections are covered adequately in the main Freemasonry entry. With respect to membership in many countries all members are voting members and can hold office, the only restriction on EA and FC is that they are required to retire from the lodge before it is passed or raised.ALR 21:21, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
It's looking much improved, a lot of benefit from the structural work you did earlier.ALR 23:20, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Job's Daughters entries

I've noticed you've added to the list of Freemasonry related articles substantially. However, some of what you've got posted is too short for Wikipedia purposes, and your entry for Bethel is really only a dictionary definition. Unless you can come up with more than a few lines on it, it's probably going to be transwikied to Wiktionary as a dictionary entry. Frankly, I think a lot of it should be merged in to the Job's Daughter's entry, because everything does not have to have an entry just because it exists. An encycolpedic entry presupposes a lot of available information. MSJapan 14:26, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] County seats

No problem, I'm going to do some of the smaller states, New York, and Wisconsin as soon as I can. I noticed your userboxes looked alot like mine would if I took the time to add them. Amerika 22:20, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deist wikipedian

I noticed you are on the category of "Deist wikipedians". That template has been deleted, but here is what you can put on your userpage:

dei This user is a Deist.

[edit] Request for edit summary

Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 3% for major edits and 4% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 150 minor edits in the article namespace.)

This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 18:00, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Idaho

Thanks for asking, but I don't think I have time for it right now. If that changes I'll get in touch.

[edit] Wikiproject Idaho

I'm pretty busy. But One thing I might be able to contribute is that I am beginning to search for public domain images on Flickr and ask the photographer if I can use their image on Wikipedia. For example, I am getting an image of the Patsy Clark Mansion in Spokane this way. If someone would alert me to images they need I could search for them. --cda 23:38, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Idaho school template - location concerns

Faustus37 - you've worked diligently on Idaho articles and I note that you are the creator of the {{IdahoSchool}} template. I have concerns about the specific information included in the Location field. See Template talk:IdahoSchool for my comments. —ERcheck @ 02:16, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

  • I noticed you made the change in the Idaho school template. I appreciate that you gave consideration to my comments. —ERcheck @ 03:44, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging for Image:Twinfallscounty.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Twinfallscounty.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Billsali.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Billsali.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Succession boxes

Succession boxes have the years which people served in office, which is typically buried within the article. Furthermore, the standard convention on Wikipedia is to have the succession boxes even if there is already a template like the one for Secretary of the Interior. See every other Secretary of the Interior article, or Secretary of Defense, or President of the USA, etc, etc, for example. --tomf688 (talk - email) 20:01, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging for Image:Twinfallsflag.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Twinfallsflag.gif. However, the copyright tag you've used is deprecated or obsolete, and should not be used. This could be because the tag is inaccurate or misleading, or because it does not adequately specify the copyright status of the image. For a list of copyright tags that are in current use, see the "Public domain", "Free license", and "Fair use" sections of Wikipedia:Image copyright tags.

==Minor Edits== Remember to mark your edits as minor only when they genuinely are (see Wikipedia:Minor edit). "The rule of thumb is that an edit of a page that is spelling corrections, formatting, and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'." Tuspm 23:58, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] City Infobox Template

I fixed it again. It works so now we do not need to change it again. --No1lakersfan 02:11, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Map Size on Infobox City

Please see my note on the talk page. I went and fixed a few of Idaho's cities to manually specify the width. To avoid additional resizing of the Idaho map (which can distort some of the lines) the ideal width is 197px - the original width of the image. Changing the map width on the cities in Idaho is much quicker than checking all 1,000+ pages using the template to verify that the map still looks okay at whatever new width we might pick :). Happy editing! —Jnk[talk] 03:33, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

I Have tried some of the maps in Virginia and I can get them down to 150px, but then some of the small towns do not look good. I will stick with 200px, so that every locality on the map shows up well. --No1lakersfan 11:32, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm writing to you as one of the people who contributed to this article. I hope I could contribute to defusing the emotional debate and I would appreciate if you could participate in the new effort of finding a good name for the article. — Sebastian (talk) 22:58, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Joesakic.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Joesakic.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
