Talk:Father Ted Crilly
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
anyone there?> father ted is really funny, watch it!!!
- The St. Columb's Ted attended derived it's name from the Derry school. [[1]]: Father Ted, Drop the Dead Donkey, Vic Reeves, Don't Forget Your Toothbrush, Harry Enfield. The names of the stars and shows which this man has discovered roll easily off the tongue.
It is an impressive list, attributed to the impressive Commissioning Editor of light entertainment for Channel 4, Seamus Cassidy. Who is a most impressive past pupil of St Columb's College.--Johnfullerton 11:42, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- The name may have been derived from the Derry St. Columb's, but it isn't St. Columb's. Demiurge 11:57, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- I've read that page, and it does not say that the name of Ted's seminary was derived from St. Columb's, merely that Channel 4's director of light entertainment was a past pupil at St. Columb's. It's possible (even probable) that the link does exist, but it's mere supposition. So I've removed this assertion since you have provided nothing to back it up. Demiurge 12:13, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- In fiction, of course it is. How do you know it's not?--Johnfullerton 12:11, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- "How do you know it's not?": Burden of proof Demiurge 12:13, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
True, and I have provided my evidence. Could you now verify your counter-claim? The burden of proof now rests with you.--Johnfullerton 12:17, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- You have provided zero evidence that Ted's seminary was named after St. Columb's. Demiurge 12:19, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
It's more than probable that the link exists. When thinking up the name, St. Columb's, where else on earth could Cassidy have been thinking of? To claim he wasn't thinking of the place he went to school is proposterous.--Johnfullerton 12:20, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- Cassidy is a TV producer not a writer, he would not have written any scripts for Father Ted. Demiurge 12:23, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- The link is so blatent. The only proof I have is that St. Columb's gets the regular mention in Father Ted and the producer of the show co-incedentally, as you would claim, attended the school. What other St. Columb's could they be possibly talking about? If that isn't a good enough link, I don't know what is.--Johnfullerton 12:33, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- It isn't a good enough link, it's mere supposition and extrapolation. A quote from one of the scriptwriters saying they specifically named the seminary after Cassidy's former school would be good enough. Demiurge 12:42, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
-> I changed "British/Irish" to "Irish"... it's really an Irish comedy, even though some of it may have been shot in England.
-> WHY does someone keep changing it back putting "British" in there? Obviously since the person didn't explain themselves they are just a troll. Is this some kind of "British Nationalism" or something? Stupid gay bastard.
