Father John Blackwood "Blackie" Ryan

Father John Blackwood "Blackie" Ryan is the protagonist in a series of 15 mystery novels by Roman Catholic priest and author Father Andrew Greeley. Ryan is a Roman Catholic priest and later a bishop in a fictionalized Chicago, where he solves mysteries related to the Roman Catholic Church and its parishioners.
