food problem :

  • "eating what cannot be eaten"
    • consumption of (mammalian) meat
    • "believing what is logically or ethically not acceptable"
  • unethical patterns of consumption, e.g. consuming too much
  • starving children -> lack of proper education

Metaphor: yogurt, curd, cheese, wine : "Your [choice of] food is bad".

Abstinence from food or "fasten" {de} as "eating less food but all types of food" is a misconception of "eatling less types of food". because there are ethical and unethical types of food. Food you have to kill or exploit a self-aware creature for could be considered unethical food.

Words containing a double 'o' seem to be related to the same concept: the oo-problem (or, more generally, an (ethical) problem). This is again an oversimplification but YHVH's language is full of oversimplifications so this doesn't come as a surprise.

[edit] European vegetarian union

This is an association between vegetarian diet and the "world food problem":

The European vegetarian union serves as an “umbrella” by providing a common European platform for the activities of vegetarian organisations and individuals in the field of vegetarianism, nutrition, health, consumer protection, the campaign against world hunger, animal rights, ecology and general information. A multitude of international efforts are coordinated, progress is stimulated, interactions are encouraged, and cohesiveness and activities are promoted.

[edit] Karma and economy

Trying to avoid any kind of exploitation is close to impossible. Every economic transaction can have any number of unknown side effects where third parties you are not even aware of are being exploited. If you recognize your responsibility for exploitation you are paying for, even if you are unware it is happening, you have to aim to become aware of exploitation and trying to stop it. This is discussed in more detail in part 7 of the interview.

An example for karma in economic transactions: You buy a third world product and somebody in the third world is payed to produce the product. This person may be severely underpaid and thus exploited, but even if he or she is not, the wealth of the first world and the relative poverty of the third world was established by force. People who were not dependent on a global economy were forced to enter the global economy, for example as tax payers in colonies. The immediate exploitation may be seen differently than the established exploitation pattern created by Colonialism. Both can be described as karma. Accepting and using established patterns of exploitation is accepting your ancestor's karma.
