Fastcore

Fastcore is a genre of hardcore, started in the early 80s. Fastcore is generally played at incredible speed and is usually around a minute long. It is based on the style & roots of hardcore but with the focus being on playing as fast as possible, unlike bands such as Black Flag. Fastcore is usually mistaken as thrashcore, thrashcore being more metallic. Bands that play thrashcore are DRI and VOID, among many others.

Many bands considered fastcore are also labeled generically under such terms as power violence & grindcore. Fastcore is basically extremely fast hardcore. Unlike fastcore, power violence is (usually) much faster, contains blast beat style drumming and constantly changes tempo. Examples of bands that play/played fastcore are best defined as (early) Gang Green, (early) Hüsker Dü and VOID.
