The Farman F222 was a heavy bomber from Farman Aviation Works. Design started in August 1935. It began to enter service with Armee de L'air in the spring of 1937. The Farman F.222 was an experimental thick-sectioned, high-winged, heavy bomber. Its first flight was May 26, 1932. This plane featured a retractable undercarriage. The final version, F.222.2, was built between 1937-8. Twenty four of these planes were produced with front fuselages and dihedral on its outer wing. The F.222 was the biggest bomber to serve in France between the world wars. During World War 2 these planes were used in leaflets raids over Germany and then night bombing raids during May and June of 1940. These resulted in three losses. The Farman had a crew of 5-6 people. It was guided by a wingspan of 36.2m, a length of 21.5m, and a height of 5.2m. Its loaded mass was between 15200 to 18700kg. When empty it weighed around 10488kg. It had maximum fuel range of 1995km.
