Faridkot District

Faridkot district is one of the eighteen districts in the state of Punjab in North-West India. According to Punjab's Geo-Area, Faridkot is a Malwa District. It is one of the biggest cotton markets in South-East Asia. The name 'Faridkot' is derrived from Baba Farid, a god-lover who wanted see the God. Faridkot was feudlist province under British rule , but now it is a district in Punjab in independent India.

Faridkot city is the headquarters of the Faridkot district. It is nearly same size of Bathinda (City). It is well-groomed city with lots of historical places to see. One of the popular religious centre of Faridkot is Baba-Farid's Gurudwara. Every year, lots of Sikhs come to this place.

Kot-Kapura is a town located just 6 kms from the Faridkot City. It is known for its big Mandi (place where crops are placed and sell). It is also known for religious purpose. Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru, came Dhilwan Kallan (a village near Kot-Kapura, 3 kms away) and stayed at a Shodhi's (a caste in Sikhs Jatts) house. Guru Gobind Singh's clothes are still can be seen at village Dhilwan Kallan.

Jaito is a small town located in Faridkot district. It is very well known for its Mandi.
