Family Arena

The Family Arena is a multi-purpose arena in St. Charles, Missouri. It was built in 1999. It was formerly the home of the Missouri River Otters ice hockey team, the River City Rage indoor football team, the St. Louis Swarm basketball team, and the St. Louis Steamers indoor soccer team. With the possibility, as of April 2006, of the Otters folding and the arena losing its lone remaining primary tenant, there are concerns of the facility becoming a white elephant. However, several youth hockey organizations (such as Twin Bridges and St. Peters clubs and the Missouri Storm Junior B team) have expressed interest in playing games at the arena, as have several high school programs. There have also been rumors of pro hockey returning in the 2007-08 season with a team in the Central Hockey League, ECHL, or UHL.

Also, the Rage will be back at the Family Arena in 2007, when they move from the National Indoor Football League to the United Indoor Football League.

The arena seats 9,643 for hockey, 9,755 for football, 10,467 for basketball, 6,339 for half-house concerts and up to 11,522 for end-stage concerts. In addition to sporting events, concerts, circuses and ice shows the arena is also used for trade shows with a total of 39,900 square feet of exhibit space (17,900 square feet on the arena floor and 22,000 square feet on the arena concourse).

The Family Arena also hosted Boeing's Integrated Defense Systems "Recommitment to Ethics Day" in 2005 and 2006 for the St. Louis metro area.
