[edit] Highest waterfall east of the Mississippi
Fall Creek Falls is not the highest US waterfall east of the Mississippi River. It is however the highest vertical drop waterfall east of the Mississippi.
Upper Whitewater Falls, in North Carolina, is the highest waterfall at a height of 411 feet. It is protected by the Nantahala National Forest. The National Forest has a brochure about Whitewater Falls.[1]

Crabtree Falls, Virginia has the title - 305 m (1000 ft)
In addition to Crabtree Falls and Whitewater Falls, there are several other taller waterfalls:
- Amicalola Falls, Georgia - 222 m (729 ft)
- Cascade Falls, Georgia - 183 m (600 ft) cascade with 3 drops, the tallest of which is 80 m (262 ft).
- Cochrans Falls, Georgia - 183 m (600 ft) cascade.
