On March 12, 2006, during the U.S. occupation of Iraq an alleged war crime took place when five soldiers of the 502d Infantry Regiment, including Steven D. Green are alleged to have murdered her, her husband (Qasim Hamza Raheem, 45), and her younger daughter (Hadeel Qassim Hamza, 7), then raped, killed, and burned her 14-year-old daughter Abeer Qassim Hamza. One of the soldiers admitted the crime. One of them has been discharged and a criminal investigation is ongoing as of July 2, 2006. [1]
