[edit] Synopsis

While returning items Earl stole from a convenience store, Earl sees Natalie, a girl he broke up with by faking his own death. He hides in the freezer to avoid being seen by Natalie, but later Earl realizes that he has to make up for it sooner or later, and might as well get it over with. He goes to Natalie's house and tells her the truth, that he's really alive, and sorry for going to such an extreme to break up with her before. Natalie forgives Earl easily, partly because she has a new boyfriend, Dirk. Unfortunately, Dirk steals Earl's idea and fakes his death too. Earl wants to tell Natalie what Dirk has done, but on Catalina's advice Earl keeps it from Natalie so as not totally destroy her self-esteem, and by being supportive, Earl almost ends up stuck with Natalie again.

[edit] Trivia

  • Earl refers to the convenience store he returns goods to as a "Quick Stop", certainly a reference to the setting of Kevin Smith's debut film, Clerks. Jason Lee has appeared in a number of Smith's movies (though not Clerks).
  • Jason Lee's real-life wife Beth Riesgraf plays his ex-girlfriend Natalie.
