Fake Chemical State is the follow up to Skin's debut album Fleshwounds. The album was released on March 20, 2006.

Amongst others, former Mansun vocalist Paul Draper lends a hand to this album, taking it in a different direction from Skin's previous album.

The track "Take Me On" features Italian music group Marlene Kuntz, who Skin previously worked with on "La canzone che scrivo per te" from their album "Che cosa vedi".

The debut single from the album was Alone In My Room, which was followed up by Just Let The Sun on March 6th, 2006. Purple was released in The Netherlands and as a digital download. The next confirmed single is Nothing But.
