Faithists of Kosmon

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Universal Faithists of Kosmon, or simply the Faithists of Kosmon, is a legally recognized religion that espouses as their holy book Oahspe.

They are the last remaining vestige of numerous Oahspe Bible Cults that sprang up in the United States and the United Kingdom, beginning in late 1880s.

Groups exist in many other countries, but a list of organizations would be difficult to draw up, because Faithists don't usually advertise their existence in the way that many Christian groups do.

A Kosmon associate in Scotland warns that the study of Oahspe, as is the study of all religions, presents the problem of claims which cannot be proven. For all religions the problem of proving the existence of the soul's body of light is always going to be a difficulty. Kosmon developed in the 1880s in the USA through the mediumship of a dentist John Newbrough. The earliest religion of homo sapiens is known as Shamanism, and its modern equivalent is the spiritualist movement. The function of a medium is to provide information from the spirit world to inspire the recipient and confirm the existence and practise of angelic communication. There are many well-attended spiritualist group meetings in Britain. Bearing in mind the problems of religious doctrine stated above, Oahspe, which is the main document to which Kosmon faithists refer, can be recommended as one of the most profound spiritualist documents ever received by a practising medium.
