Fairfax Baronets
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Fairfax Baronets are a line of baronets associated with Charlecote Park in the village of Charlecote in Warwickshire. The baronetcy was first granted in 1836, although it was not until the third baronet that the family became associated with Charlecote Park.
The previous owners of Charlecote Park, the Lucy family, had become extinct in the male line, and the third baronet married a daughter of the family. The surname of the baronets, at first Fairfax, then Ramsay-Fairfax and thirdly Cameron-Ramsay-Fairfax, was changed to Lucy to reflect the name of the traditional owners of Charlecote Park.
In the 20th century the family fell on harder times and they sold Charlecote Park to the National Trust.
