Faimalaga Luka

Faimalaga Luka (1940-August 19, 2005) was Governor-General and Prime Minister of Tuvalu.
He was a broadcaster and politician, serving in roles including Minister for Health in 1994-1996 and Prime Minister from 24 February 2001. He lost a vote of no confidence on 14 December 2001 and was forced to resign. He was appointed as Governor-General on 9 September 2003 but retired on 15 April 2005 after reaching his 65th birthday. Tuvalu, unlike most countries, has a mandatory retirement age for all civil servants.
Radio Tuvalu reported that he died on August 19, 2005 in Fiji where he was referred for medical treatment.
