Faget is a well-known song by Nu Metal band Korn, released on their debut album, Korn, as track #6.

[edit] Inspiration

Lead singer Jonathan Davis has stated that the song was inspired by his childhood, in which he was bullied by unidentified individuals and called a "faget" (intentional misspelling of the insult faggot). The song is nearly six minutes long, and does not really conform to a set structure, being more amorphous in style. During the chorus, Davis screams 'Him!' repeatedly behind the main melody, as a word instead of three individually spoken letters, a reference to Davis' unwanted nickname throughout high school. While Davis did not take the name kindly, he ironically has it tattooed on his arm. He claims he has done this to both "remind myself of the dangers of unprotected sex" and to "remember the pain". Davis has commented on the song, "Everyone thinks I'm bashing gay people in this song, and I'm not. It's really about me going through highschool being called 'pussy', 'queer', and all that stuff, about getting picked on by all these jocks" [1].

[edit] Video

Like Good God, a song from Korn's follow-up Life Is Peachy, a video for this song was shot, but was never officially released, nor was the song released as a single, probably because of incessant profanities. The video can be seen in Korn's first documentary video, Who then Now, which also features in their 2002 DVD release Deuce. It simply features the band playing the song in a red-curtained room.
