[edit] Image Tagging Image:Disturbed.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Disturbed.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairusein|article name}} or {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. Blightsoot 17:21, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the link....would it be possible to also copyright tag the image with one of the templates. Blightsoot 14:44, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Soty.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Soty.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 20:49, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 10,000 Days artwork

Hi, I would like you to ask something regarding the artwork for Tool's 10,000 Days, please don't restore the cover image. I realize it's irritating to have that sort of thing and not be able to post it, but in accordance with the U.S. Copyright Act designations of "Fair Use" rationale, we really cannot use it yet since we cannot give full attribution to the copyright owner yet. This issue has been thoroughly discussed and voted on by some of the editors, and if you'd like to learn more about it, you can see the discussions at Talk:10,000 Days#Page Protection. Thanks. --Johnnyw 20:51, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Ksebandpic.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ksebandpic.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

[edit] Protecting SummerSlam (2006)

Just to let you know, adding {{sprotected}} or {{protected}} to a page is only a means for an admin to notify users that a page is protected. This does not actually confer protection to the article such as the notice you placed on SummerSlam (2006). If you need help protecting a page, please contact an admin. Thanks! -- zzuuzz (talk) 17:23, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Famguy4yz4py.gif)

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Famguy4yz4py.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 17:39, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Wwesurvivorseries2006.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Wwesurvivorseries2006.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. [edit] Billboard 200

Hey there, just letting you know I reverted your edit for now. You're probably right that Jay-Z will be #1 (yeah big shock) but until it is published on Billboard's website and an external link can be placed in the article, I think it's best to keep it as is until we have a real source, k? Later! - eo 15:22, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
