football

The Victorian Rules folk ar trying to claim that Aussie Rules is an Australian variety of the game when it is very distinctly a Victorian variation of the football and was codified in Victoria many years before the beginning of Australia. If you share the same opinion I would love for you to come to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Football and give your opinion.

All the best

antipodes

Hi, while I appreciate and support your efforts to nuke intrusive factoids, I don't think that antipodes' lead is a case in point. Please see the article's talk page. — Johan the Ghost seance 14:14, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Humanism and Ritual

2ct7,

I support the recent changes you've made to the secular humanism article. Just one point i'd like to make though, with regards to secular humanists rejecting ritual. I'm not all knowledgeable when it comes to this subject but I do know the Irish humanist association offer alternative rituals for birth, marriage and death. They of course are optional but it would be going to far to suggest that, at least this secular humanist body, 'rejects' ritual.

rgds,

I do think its a major difference between secular and religious organizations. Also there is a difference between ceremonies marking birth, marriage or death and rituals. While rituals may be used in life milestone ceremonies they are not really required and the more secular organizations really do out right reject them as being associated with primitive theism. Where as religious humanist would select acceptable rituals from older theist tradions (and perhaps adapt or redefine them) and also use rituals to mark things like solstice and equinox.

Factoids

I was just looking through the Brisbane history and saw your handle, interesting work you're doing. - Diceman 14:08, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

I agree. If you'd like to run through the rugby league pages and rid them of any foctoids, that would be very welcome. Perpahs Rugby league in Australia and Rugby league in New Zealand would be a good start or national team pages. POds 07:47, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

My Username

Hi. In June last year my username User:Jebus Christ was blocked. I discovered recently that the admin responsible User:Secretlondon was involved in protecting the article relating to the profet mahommed images under the banner of freedom of speach. I personally find this hypocritical.

I've started a petition to get my username back. If you support this can you please sign my petition on my talk page User talk:Jebus Christ.

Thanks Jimididit 12:04, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

Is Prosper Trebeck 'from Victoria'?

I came across the article in a google search for uncategorised "Victoria, Australia" articles. On the basis of the information in the article I thought Category:People from Victoria was one appropriate category. Can you suggest other categories which are more appropriate? Does Wikipedia have any guidelines on "People from or of place" which would apply in this case? - Cuddy Wifter 03:42, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Help request

How can I be of assistance? Kelly Martin (talk) 19:12, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Hello. I recently made a large edit ot the Brisbane Line article and accidently made it without being logged in. Is there any way I can have that edit moved to Factoid Killer?

Unfortunately not. Such a change would require developer intervention, but the developers rarely ever do edit reassignments as doing them is tedious and timeconsuming for them, and they generally have more important work to do. Sorry. Kelly Martin (talk) 19:17, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
OK. Thanks for the info. Factoid Killer 19:18, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for awarding me the minor edit Barnstar. Figaro 13:25, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

By the way, I should perhaps mention that I actually created about forty (i.e. about 50%) of the Brisbane articles to which there are links on the List of Brisbane articles page. However, I unfortunately created many of the articles before I became a member of Wikipedia with the result that some of my IP numbers are mentioned as the creators of many of the articles, instead of my Wikipedia ID of 'Figaro' (in a similar way to your IP number being credited with your editing of the Brisbane Line article, instead of your edits being credited as 'Factoid Killer').
Many of the articles which you have commented on as your reason for awarding me a minor editing Barnstar, are actually articles I have created myself, and which I have been continually and extensively editing for seven to eight months now in an effort to improve the quality of the articles.
I have also spent a large portion of that time reverting vandalism of Wikipedia articles, as well as fixing up masses of links after pages have been moved (some of which have been moved by myself - plus some which have been moved by other users altogether). I could have done a lot more for Wikipedia if the vandals did not continue to try to undermine Wikipedia, and if everyone who moved pages would also fix up the links to those pages. Figaro 13:36, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi Figaro. There's probably at least 4 different barnstars I could award you. You deserve the minor edits barnstar for different reasons to the original barnstar. The original barnstar is for a large number of quality contributions to a particular topic. The minor edits barnstar is for maintaining and enhancing the quality of the existing articles. I see no issue with awarding you both. Factoid Killer 20:44, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi Factoid Killer. Thank you for awarding me the original barnstar, as well as having awarded me with the minor edits barnstar. They were a nice surprise to receive and I appreciate both very much. Figaro 14:44, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

Top cities

I thought of you as soon as I saw this "article". I'm sure you'll have a field day! DJR (Talk) 14:05, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Dublin

I suggest you review the talk page before engaging in a revert war. In summary the population of the city of Dublin (as the boundary by law) is 495,781 per the Central Statistics Office publication of Census 2002 Volume 1 Population by Area. All other relevent figures are given in the third paragraph so its really quite pointless in repeating them in the infobox. Its pointless compairing the city of Dublin with the city of London as the formers boundaries are regularily changed by law. Thanks. Djegan 20:03, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

final warning

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a user's page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Don't post false sockpuppet templates on user pages. FearÉIREANN\(caint) 21:15, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

He is not a new user. He has been on Wikipedia for ages. He and DJ are not the same. Some making that ludicrous claim. FearÉIREANN\(caint) 21:18, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

{{unblock|A user ([[User:Djegan]]) made a change to the [[Dublin]] article that in my view violates consistency with every other city article. The user then reverted my change and claimed to have consensus. When this process was repeated another user reverted and then a fourth came along and re-reverted. The fourth user I suspect is a sockpuppet and tagged as such providing evidence. Subsequent users removed those tags in acts of vandalism without investigation or providing evidence to the contrary. the change I reverted at the dublin page was to restore consistency. The user dj... reverted my edits claiming to have consensus. There is no evidence of this consensus. So far there has been no serious attempt to defend the edits.}}

You're very talkative now Jtdirl. Just not when I was requesting clarification on your accusation that i'd made a bad faith sockpuppet accusation. I guess you were handing me enough rope to hang myself. Nice 1. You'll serve the head psychopath Jimbo Wales proud. Factoid Killer 22:16, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Reply to accusation by djegan

>Threatening people, saying they are vandals and sockpuppets does not really help your case. Djegan 21:32, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

I didn't threaten anyone. I considered you to be a vandal and asked you to stop. no different to the warning message posted on my page although misguided it was not a threat to me. However, I can see that what we have here is an administrator looking after his mates. I have 0 history of vandalism and have made a fairly large contribution to wikipedia. You also accused me of being a bully. In my experience it's bullies who have the greatest knowledge about bullying. It's also bullies who have a large number of people fighting in their court... not the lone person being attacked by the majority. Factoid Killer 21:47, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Woo, you used a plural ("mates"). You actually recognised that me and Djegan aren't the same person finally. --Kiand 21:49, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
And by taunting me you've proven i'm not the one doing the bullying here. And actually, I thought there was another person involved. I only just realised the person who signs Fear Eiren has a username other than fear Eiran and that they are one person. Sorry to burst your bubble. Factoid Killer 21:51, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Posting {{sockpuppet}} on talk pages of users who disagree with you, and accusing people who disagree with you of being sockpuppets when the users in question are longstanding credible users who were editing WP before you came anywhere near it, is no way to win an argument. Continuing to do so when told to stop, led to your block. FearÉIREANN\(caint) 21:52, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

This is bullshit

This whole thing is outragous. If this block is taken seriously you've seen my last edit at wikipedia. Factoid Killer 21:53, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

And by the way

Is anyone actually going to point me to this consensus? Factoid Killer 21:58, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

OK well that's it

So long and thanks for all the fish. This user has made his final contributoin to an organisation that encourages a bullying culture and considers psychopathy to be a desirable trait in its editors. If you don't have the level of psychopathy required to be a Bully then you have to be a sheep. If you can't do that then you're on the outside.

I'm just sorry I spent so much time and effort contributing. Factoid Killer 22:09, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Hold on a moment.
  • You started an edit war.
  • You began personally abusing people who disagreed with you.
  • You began posting sockpuppet templates on the pages of users who disagreed with you.
  • You were warned to stop.
  • You continued posting the template despite a warning that if you did not stop you would be blocked.
  • You got yourself blocked.
And now you try to blame everyone else for your behaviour. Stop playing the innocent victim here. You were the one who acted the bully in calling everyone who disagreed with you sockpuppets and fighting edit wars. It is your decision whether to stay or go. Don't blame anyone else for your misjudgments and your behaviour. FearÉIREANN\(caint) 22:25, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

You're full of shit and it shows in your biased use of language.

  1. I gave djegan every opportunity to explain his changes. The best he could do is lie about having consensus and direct me to a non-existent discussion on the talk page. I didn't start the edit war.
  2. I didn't abuse anyone! Where is your evidence of this? I was accused of making a threat when I suggested that admin intervention might be warrented if djegan was going to continue to revert without debate or discussion. That was not a threat and I didn't do anything that could be considered abuse.
  3. I don't know where I went wrong with the sockpuppet thingy. I did a quick check and it looked to me as though both users started editing in feb and march. I guess I was wrong. But why is it that when I asked you why you thought they weren't sockpuppets did you not answer?
  4. Yes I was warned to stop without a valid explanation. It also wasn't clear that you were an admin!

On the other hand...

  • djegan made a controvetial edit
  • djegan refused to discuss the change
  • djegan chose to ignore my requests for information and instead get into an edit war
  • djegan, with a very weak case, accused me of threatening him
  • YOU refused to respond to my request for clarification prior to blocking me
  • YOU are looking after your mates
  • And now YOU have lost wikipedia a hard working editor with ZERO history of vandalism.

Weather I was right or not, this could have been handled a hell of a lot better. This is my first block. I refuse to continue editing here with that on my record. Factoid Killer 09:42, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Your request to be unblocked has been denied for the following reason(s):

Doesn't sound like there's much point unblocking you, then. Request denied.

Do not remove this template from your page.

{{unblock}}

I'm leaving permanently and want to be able to make an edit to my user page before I go. Factoid Killer 09:57, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

No. Either wait until your block expires, or tell me what it is and I'll make it if it's appropriate. --Sam Blanning(talk) 10:15, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Fine with me. Please remove the 'Other Interests' section. And at the top place the following text.

"This user has resigned from editing at Wikipedia after 1 year of service. This is due to being treated with complete and utter disrespect which is a common tactic of the majority of administrators at wikipedia and a practice which isn't even frowned upon by this organisation. I therefore cannot justify contributing any more time and effort to Wikipedia. Factoid Killer 10:42, 8 June 2006 (UTC)"

Thanks.

Factoid Killer 10:42, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Additionally i'd like to leave a big mark of respect for User:Aaron Brenneman who is the only administrator i've come accross in this place who is not a power-stoned narcissist. Aaron conducts himself in a civl and unbiased manner. Factoid Killer 11:14, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Done. --Sam Blanning(talk) 11:18, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. Factoid Killer 11:26, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
