[edit] Face

"The face is the front part of the human head from forehead to chin including the head, hair, forehead, eyebrow, eyes, nose, cheek, mouth, lips, teeth, skin, and chin. The face is used for facial expressions, appearance and identity amongst other humans."

Above is an excerpt from the Wikipedia article entitled Face. It explains the denotation of the word Face. Over the past decade the word has developed another connotation, as common slang. It is a catch all slang word, which can be used in a great variety of ways.

Its primary purpose is as a greeting. One may say to a friend, "What's up face," "how's your face," "Hey face," or simply, "face." Upon parting it is common to say, "see ya face," or again, simply, "face."

It is also used as an expletive, most commonly in place of the word Fuck. One might exclaim, for example, "face that," "face you," or, "what the face?" A common response to any insult is to answer back, "your face"

It is also not uncommon to hear the word face randomly inserted into sentences, perhaps when one forgets the noun one is searching for, for example, "I was having a discussion with Professor Burns on the post romantic era and he recommended a face to me for reading, but I simply can't remember the title. It was written by what's his face."

It is also used when on forgets the name of a person. In this case one calls that person "What's his face," as in the previous example. Alternately, it can be used as a proper noun in the pace of someone's name, "Face came over and we played poker," or as a substitute for someone's last name, "I'm going to the bar to meet Jane Face."

It is often substituted in phrases for other words that sound like face, "face age," instead of "space age," or, "horse face," instead of "horse race."

In some cases it even be heard in the middle of a word, for example, "we are defaceinitely going to have do something about that."
