Facundo Suárez

Facundo Suárez was an Argentine Radical Civic Union politician.

Suárez became a UCR deputy in the Argentine Chamber of Deputies 1948-52 and was chairman of the national oil company YPF. He was one of the first UCR officials to meet Juan Domingo Perón after his exile to Spain.

Suárez was Argentine Secretary of Intelligence from 1983 to 1989, during Raúl Alfonsín's presidency. Little is known about Suárez' administration except for scandals such as the filming of the Radical Civic Union's 1989 presidential campaign television ads on one of SIDE's bases, with employees in the background. Another scandal was the constant watching of opposition senators for human weaknesses to be used against them in future political operations. He also served as Argentine Ambassador to Mexico.

Facundo Suárez's son Facundo Suárez Lastra, also became a politician and was Mayor of Buenos Aires and a minister under Alfonsín alongside his father.
