[edit] Synopsis
It tells the story of mid-sixties 'it girl' and Warhol superstar Edie Sedgwick, who will be portrayed by Sienna Miller. Guy Pearce plays Andy Warhol, and Hayden Christensen portrays rock star Billy Quinn, a fictional character who becomes involved with Edie. Christensen was originally cast as Bob Dylan, but the name of the character was changed after some controversy because there is no evidence that Dylan was ever actually involved with Edie. After Sedgwick dropped out of art school in Cambridge in 1965, she moved to New York and met Warhol, who promised to make her a star. The movie chronicles her rise to fame and subsequent downfall into drugs and depression.

[edit] Controversy
The film has also sparked up news as Lou Reed, a member of the Velvet Underground and friend of Edie's, has publicly told the New York Daily News, "I read that script. It's one of the most disgusting, foul things I've seen - by any illiterate retard - in a long time. There's no limit to how low some people will go to write something to make money", as well as "They're all a bunch of whores."
Harvey Weinstein has pulled the film premiere and screenings in New York in fear of critic's negative reviews of Factory Girl. It is on the 4th reshoot and appears to have a new director. Rumors report that George Hickenlooper's drug addiction had Wiersma and the investors so worried that they removed him from the project.
[edit] Trivia
- Weezer's guitarist/singer Brian Bell and drummer Patrick Wilson covered the Velvet Underground song "Heroin" for this film. They also appear in the movie, with Bell playing Lou Reed and Wilson playing John Cale.
- Katie Holmes was set to take the starring role after Miller backed out, but it was reported Tom Cruise convinced Holmes not to do it because it would be bad for her image. Regarding the rumors, Holmes said, "I declined the role in Factory Girl based on my own decisions about the movie." [1] The role then went back to Miller.
- This is the first movie that Mary-Kate Olsen will appear in without her twin sister.
