Facing The Animal is an album released in 1997 by guitar virtuoso Yngwie J. Malmsteen. At the time of release (and arguably until now), the album is one of Malmsteen's more popular and American sounding albums.

Tracks worth noting are: "Braveheart" -- a lively celtic song with some clean solos, "Facing the Animal" -- a crunchy song with an infectious groove, "Like an Angel" -- a ballad with an excellent emotional solo and "My Resurrection" -- a solid and catchy rock song.

The cheesy lyrics of the 80s have been thrown out, replaced with thoughtful, structured, meaningful and, at times atleast, inspirational lyrics.

The album features one of the veteran drummer Cozy Powell's last performances before his death in 1998.
