[edit] Career

At the age of 3 he moved to New York City and became interested in drumming. At age 5 he started playing the drums and practiced in a soundproofed closet. At 13, Moretti met future bandmates Julian Casablancas and Nick Valensi at the Dwight School in New York (Central Park West).

Moretti wanted to be an art teacher when in high school and went to college with a major in sculpture. However, he soon realized that his exceptional talent for drumming could get him much further in life and soon dropped out of college to join the band.

As their drummer, Moretti and The Strokes have enjoyed much success releasing 3 albums and continue to skyrocket to fame.

He wrote a song called "All The Hours You Wanted", performed by The Strokes (with Matt Romano on drums, Nick Valensi on guitar, Julian Casablancas on vocals) and is featured exclusively during the end credits of "Choose or Lose Presents: The Best Place to Start" (2004), a documentary about teen voting starring Drew Barrymore. The song is highly inspired by blues and soul music, featuring an organ, soul-influenced bass, and a blues solo. The song runs at just under 2 minutes, and is more popularly known as "Clear Skies" (from a phrase in the lyrics) by the The Strokes' community.
