Fabchannel.com– the world’s largest online concert archive – broadcasts concerts in the renowned Amsterdam pop venue’s Paradiso and Melkweg on the internet. On www.fabchannel.com music fans are offered free video recordings of great international acts and up-coming bands, live as well as on demand. Fabchannel.com is a place for music fans to discover and enjoy live music and a stage for artists to reach out to an international audience. From all over the world people find their way to Fabchannel.
Fabchannel notices how the power of the conventional (radio, TV and written-) media decreases. Instead of a small group of managers deciding what people see, read and hear, this choice is moving towards the viewer/listener more and more. The power of the internet will keep increasing and people will more and more able to adjust the online content to their personal preferences.
A lot of music does not get attention of the media, these artists stay unnoticed by a lot of music fans. Fabchannel wants to promote the music that is ignored by the ‘conventional’ media. It wants to make this music available to music fans all over the world, for them to discover.
In 1999 Fabchannel was founded by Paradiso, just after the internet bubble had exploded and all investors turned their back to the internet. With confidence in the idea and with the help of a group of committed volunteers with a passion for music and technology Fabchannel grew out to become the winner of the 2006 Webby Award for ‘best music website of the world’.
Besides broadcaster, Fabchannel is producer and developer (the website and several interactive players are developed by Fabchannel). This makes Fabchannel one of the first of a new breed of media companies, in which content, technology and marketing come together. All this knowledge combined in one small organisation makes Fabchannel unique and enables it to adapt very quickly to developments in the industry.
Fabchannel always moves forward. There is a continuously strive to develop new ways of recording, promoting, interaction and to disclose the content to the users.
