FA Sunday Cup

The FA Sunday Cup is a knock-out competition for English Sunday league football teams.
Prior to 1955, The Football Association did not permit clubs or players under its jurisdiction to take part in competitive football played on Sunday. A change of heart by the governing body in 1960 allowed Sunday leagues to become affiliated to County Associations and, four years later, The F.A. started the Sunday Cup for non-contract amateur players playing for clubs in the top division of their Sunday league.
In the Cup's first season (1964-65), teams representing Sunday players in various counties entered and London won the final. In the first final featuring club sides, Unique United beat Aldridge Fabrications 1-0 at Dudley in 1966. Since then, the competition has been won by 31 different sides. Eighty-eight clubs entered in 1999/2000, with five proper rounds preceding the semi-final and final.
Liverpool side Nicosia lifted the FA Sunday Cup in 2006, 13 years after winning it for the first time, when they beat Bristol team UK Flooring 3-1 in the Final, played at Anfield.
