[edit] Overview

At the turn of 2080, SINN (Sports Interactive News Network) announced XGRA (Extreme-G Racing Association) had declared the Global Season Tour was going to take place, so riders from all over the world geared up and got ready to compete. The game features a wide range of riders, tracks and bikes. These bikes can accelerate incredibly rapidly, going from 0mph to 300mph in a matter of seconds. It is even possible to break the sound barrier during gameplay.

[edit] Music Integration

Much like Extreme-G 3, XGRA's gameplay keeps very tight integration with its soundtrack. When creating a savegame, the player is asked what music style they prefer (choosing between Dance, Rock, or a mix of the two). Doing so affects which music tracks are played on which courses. Some courses also feature a slight amount of interactivity with the music. For example, on the level "Deep Space E.R.F. Station," the sound effects are muted in favor of the background music while the player races down a long spiral tube. Some such integration with the soundtrack suggests that the music for the game was selected early on in its development. For example, if the player selects "Dance" as their music preference, the track "Deep Space E.R.F. Station" plays the song Never Gonna Come Back Down by Brian Transeau. In the song, the lyric "We are here to save the ERF; E-R-F." is spoken. This course's name is an obvious reference to this lyric.
