Expedition 16

Expedition 16 is the 16th expedition to the International Space Station (ISS). The first two crew members, Yuri Malenchenko, and Peggy Whitson are scheduled for launch on October 6, 2007, aboard Soyuz TMA-11, together with Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, the first Malaysian angkasawan.

If STS-122 launches on schedule, they will be joined by Léopold Eyharts, who will be launched aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery on October 17. They will also be joined by Robert Thirsk who will be launched aboard Endeavour on STS-123 on December 6 and finally by Koichi Wakata on STS-124.

Expedition 16 will be an opportunity to have as ISS expedition crew astronauts and cosmonauts from the five space agencies forming the ISS partnership.
