User talk:Exiles03
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome, fellow Exiles enthusiast! In addition to welcoming you to the Wikipedia, might I suggest you consider joining the Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics project? We set the standards for articles pertaining to comic books, comic book titles, comic book teams, comic book characters, and any other generic categories for characters that fall in that realm. If you're interested, go to that page and add yourself to the "Participants" section. Then keep an eye on the talk page, and contribute to any discussions that you feel comfortable adding to. It's a pretty ambitious project, but I think we already have a good start on having an authoritative source of information for comic book trivia. If you have any questions, click on the "Talk" link after my signature. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 21:42, May 19, 2005 (UTC)
- Hey again Exiles03, the WikiProject has raised some concerns about the images you have been uploading, and their Wikipedia:Copyright status. Did you scan these images in yourself, or did you get them from another webpage? In either case, can you check to see if these images are Wikipedia:Fair use? If so, can you go back to the images' pages and mark them with the fair use template? Use the following code snippet: {{fair use}}. Also, can you include the issue number, page number and panel numbers when appropriate? All of this information is necessary for the images to remain in Wikipedia, or we will have to delete them for fear of accidental copyright violation. If you have any further questions about this, feel free to post comments in the ongoing discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Comics#Copyright. Cheers, --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 15:02, May 24, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Warning
Exiles03, please respond on my talk page or the wikiproject talk page about the copyright status of the images you are uploading. You MUST include copyright information on the information pages themselves or we will have to delete them as copyright problems. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 22:15, May 24, 2005 (UTC)
- Exiles03, please respond to this message. You cannot continue to upload images without providing copyright information. Even if you include the URL that you find the images on, you must indicate whether or not the website allows you to use the images under fair use. Even with all that, if you don't include the issue, page and panel of the inside comics you have taken them from, we will have to delete all of the images and remove them from the wikipedia articles. For further information, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics#Copyright. You can also discuss this further on that article's talk page. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 20:22, May 31, 2005 (UTC)

- Your last edit to Magnus (comics) was a verbatim copyvio from [1]. I have reverted it. Please try to contribute your own material or don't contribute at all. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 22:15, July 11, 2005 (UTC)

- I'm sorry, but your last copyvio at Sunfire is unacceptable, as it is just minutes after I had warned you. I am blocking your account for 24 hours for repeated copyright violation and complete unresponsiveness to mine and other users' comments. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 22:24, July 11, 2005 (UTC)

- ThunderbirdExiles (comics) is not only really poorly named, but it is another copyvio from comixfan. The same is true for your recent edits to Hyperion (comics). Exiles, this is not cool. I'm blocking you for 1 week this time. E-mail me if you're finally willing to talk about this. --DropDeadGorgias (talk) 20:53, July 21, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Letsgohypey.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Letsgohypey.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. ~MDD4696 03:14, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Exs066b.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Exs066b.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. -- Longhair 10:56, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Tbirdvsgalactus.jpg)
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Tbirdvsgalactus.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BRossow 19:35, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:345678.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:345678.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
