Evje

Evje is a village and former municipality in Aust-Agder county, Norway.
The municipality was created by the split of Evje og Vegusdal into Hornnes and Vegusdal on 1 January 1877. At that time Evje had a population of 870.
On 1 January 1960 Evje was merged with Hornnes to form the new municipality Evje og Hornnes. Prior to the merger Hornnes had a population of 1,646. [1]
The urban area Evje, which encompasses the villages Evje, Evjemoen, Dåsnesmoen, Hornnes and Kjetså,[2] has a population of 2,129 [3]. Evje is the administrative centre of Evje and Hornnes.
