[edit] Adding info to articles
Well, usually to find ideas just go to articles that you know things about and skim over them to see if that information is omitted. If it is, you can add it in. However, you can contribute in other ways than articles, such as stub sorting, categorizing, fighting vandalism, etc. Or if you want you can research some stuff to add. _-M o P-_ 16:07, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
- As long as you paraphrase the information (i.e. don't copy and paste), you should be fine. Remember to cite the site as a source if you have any quotes or such. P.S. Don't worry, I never get annoyed :D _-M
oP-_ 21:42, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Response to you question
Hello Evan,
In response to the question you left at Shreshth91's page regarding Welcoming Committee, all you need to do is add your name in Wikipedia:Welcoming committee/members. You may also like to use the userboxes present there. Infact, doing all this is also optional. There's no harm in just starting to welcome new users. The list is just to declare your interest. Anyway its good to see people from younger generation taking active part in Wikipedia. Keep it up. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 02:56, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

Sure; I actually didn't write the "code" myself, seeing as I can't figure out computer talk for the life of me. My welcome template is an amalgamation of other people's welcomes that I liked and copied bits and pieces into my welcome. If you want to see it, it's in my userspace at User:Sputnikcccp/Welcome. [edit] RE:Admins
Mainly, Admins are the bigger brothers on Wikipedia; they have the power to block evil vandals, delete bad articles, and a multitude of other things (see Wikipedia:Administrators for more). Most importantly, admins can (as mentioned above) block users, which is their main ace against vandals. Hope that helps! _-M o P-_ 01:15, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Edit buttons help
Hi there. I have looked at the extra edit buttons for you. I copied your monobook.js over the top of mine and it all worked first time on my configuration (Windows XP, Firefox 1.5). So it isn't anything wrong with your monobook.js.
However, a number of people have had problems with toolbar buttons in general over the past couple weeks and there has been a discussion on the Village pumpabout the toolbar buttons (both the extra edit buttons and the standard buttons). When the problem came up I put in a fix, which is the version you are working from. However, I also did some fundamental changes which I have been running in the development version, whilst I tested them. I have now promoted this development version to become the standard version. I suggest you try this new version and let me know how you get on. --MarkS 09:18, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Surely you recall about the vandal group related to PMP, Axl Reisdorff, etc. Perhaps you'd like to take a look at User:Drini/AxlPMP and tell me if you've encoutnered any other names I should add to the list. Dear Evan Robidoux/Archive2,
- Thanks for voting on my RFA! I appreciate your faith in me, and was overwhelmed by the positive response to my RFA; for it shows that at least I'm doing something right. :) I've started working to improve myself already, and I hope that next time, things run better, and maybe, just maybe, one day we can bask on the shores of Admintopia together. [edit] RFA stuff
Well, thats a very tricky question. Some users will support someone who has been here for 2 months with 500 edits, while some want a minimum of 6000 edits with a year's experience. Generally, the main stuff people look for is;
- Civility; how kind you are to other users, and how you handle conflicts or such things. Pretty much, maintain a cool head and remember WP:NPA.
- Number of edits; specifically, your edit count. Most people want a minimum of 3500-4000 total edits (though some may oppose still), with a healthy 50% or so in mainspace (article) edits, about 15-20% in user talk space, 20-25% in Wikipedia space, and the rest evenly distributed amongst other categories.
- Active months; that is, how long you've been on Wikipedia, but more importantly, how long you've been actively contributing to Wikipedia.
- Question answers; this is usually minor, but you should state clearly why you think you need admin tools and try to answer the questions to the best of your ability. Also remember; even though you don't have to answer user-added questions, you probably should, as it shows evidence of good social skills.
- Miscellaneous things; things like signatures and userpage issues usually fall here, but don't happen very often.
If you need any clarification, feel free to ask. :D MoppEr Speak! 01:00, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, an overly-complicated signature or really flashy one with images and all that jazz may suggest immaturity to some. Also, userpages too, though to a lesser extent. MoppEr Speak! 01:34, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for voting on my RfA
Thanks so much for voting!
Thanks so much for voting on my request for adminship. I have decided to withdraw my nomination as it seems that consensus will not be reached. If you voted in support, thanks for putting your trust in me to be a good admin. If you voted in opposition, thank you as well for your constructive criticism as it will only help me be a better Wikipedian and perhaps help if/when I apply for adminship again sometime in the future. |

[edit] External links
Well, generally, you link once if you're referencing something (i.e. George Bush did not do a good job in Iraq. [http://www.blah.net] ). If its a longer article, theres a different deal, but with your article, just add it in after the info you're referencing.
Now, on userpages; sure, you could pretty much waltz into every userpage on Wikipedia and put it on your userpage. Usually, people don't mind. Hope I helped, and if you need more help, I'm only... um... *counts* 3 clicks away. Cheers, Mopper Speak! 00:29, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Go straight ahead, I wouldn't consider it biting the newcomers. Perhaps explain about user pages, and offer to move it over for him. You just have to deal with newbies. - The latest method, I say that because they change, is to write your text, and at the end add the link like this -
-
<ref> [example.com/example Example of title] ''Example.com''. URL Accessed May 14, 2006.</ref>
-
-
- If you do it that way, in the References section, add <references/> to make the refs appear.
-
-
-
- If you are using a link several times, put this in the first time -
-
<ref name=example> [example.com/example Example of title] ''Example.com''. URL Accessed May 14, 2006.</ref>
-
-
- And every time afterwards put <ref name=example/>
-
Hope this clears things up. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 23:06, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

- Hi Evan, sorry I could not respond earlier; it was night in my time zone & I was asleep. Anyway as HighwayCello says your actions cannot be considered as biting newcomers. Hello Evan. [edit] Editor Review
Everybody's review is on a subpage now. All I did was change the older ones from being transcluded onto the main page, to being linked, in the hopes of keeping the size of the main page from getting too big. Maybe we should detransclude all of them and just have a list of links. People can and are leaving comments on your subpage. From the history of your subpage, you can see how inactive the page is, the whole project is unfortunately overlooked by most wikipedians. This project would work better if there were a time limit, there are just too many requests for review listed. Feel free to change things around if you want, I don't own the page or anything. My suggestion would be to end and archive your current review, and then submit a second one in a few weeks, by doing so you may get more replies. Cheers, NoSeptember talk 23:55, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Editor review
That page is a good candidate for bold action. Around here, you just have to adopt a page and maintain it as you see fit, if you want to do so for this page, go for it. On the talk page, there was an old discussion of time limits, many agreed that a time limit would be a good thing, and it should not be a problem if you wanted to start archiving old requests. There is no need to get permission of users to archive their reviews. Many of these editors may have forgotten they made these review requests and their subpages are quite inactive, so no harm will come from archiving. Anyone who still wants more input should start a fresh request. NoSeptember 09:33, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
