The Eurovision Song Contest, has, every year since its start in 1956, produced over fifty winners, with one every year except the 1969 contest, when four countries were given joint first place. The winning song each year usually becomes popular across Europe and the rest of the World, and the winning artist, sometimes a previously unknown singer or band, become widely known and respected.
