European World Tour

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Bowling Tour is one of three tours (Europe, Americas, Asia) that form part of the ranking system of the World Tenpin Bowling Association (WTBA) with the top 8 bowlers each year invited to the World Ranking Masters. The tour is run by the European Tenpin Bowling Federation.

For example, with the European Bowling Tour, the list can be found on the official ETBF website [1]. It is also reported on in the leading Tenpin news site [2].

In 2004 and 2005, Paul Moor, Britain's premier Ten-pin bowlers, is ranked European Number 1. He will be defending his title in 2006.

During the 1990's, there had been several attempts to develop Ten-pin bowling tours in Europe but these were usually limited to one country (The Danish Masters Tour and the German Golden Bowling Ball Tour). It wasn't until 2000 that the European Bowling Tour was launched initially holding 9 tournaments in 8 countries. It had expanded to 12 tournaments by 2003, 17 tournaments in 2004 and in 2006 now consists of 20 tournaments in 16 different countries. The 2006 tour will pay out just over 1 million Euros in prize money.

Kegel [3] is the official Lane Maintenance Partner of the ETBF.

Article 5 of the WTBA Constitution defines the European Tenpin Bowling Federation as follows: "It shall embrace all FIQ national federations with tenpins on the Continent of Europe, North Africa, British Isles and the islands of the North Atlantic." The European Tenpin Bowling Federation currently consists of 48 member federations. [4]
