European Commissioner for the Environment

The Commissioner for the Environment is the member of the European Commission responsible for environmental protection. Holders of the post have included:
- Ritt Bjerregaard (of Denmark) - Santer Commission (1995-1999)
- Margot Wallström (of Sweden) - Prodi Commission (1999-2004)
- Stavros Dimas (of Greece) - Barroso Commission (2004-present)
